7:48 AM, Doing our PowerPoint Slide Presentation (PSP)
Friday, October 3, 2008
Doing the PowerPoint slides was fun, although it was a little tiring. A few of us met up and discussed about the slides, what we need to include in our presentation. We referred to the project file that we had and knew about the outline of the slides. These are the things we need to include: present situation, desired situation, metaphors for both the situations, ideation phase, evaluation phase and a picture of our prototype with a brief explanation. We discussed, searched for information and wrote down the points we wanted to have for each of the headings. That ended our face-to-face meeting.
The next meeting was in the MSN. We started by having a member to just create the slides and type the headings. Then, he/she sent it to the next member, where he/she typed the relevant points we wrote on 4 of the slides. Then, that member sent it to the next one, which did the same thing as the previous one. Next, the PowerPoint with 8 slides was sent to a member, that inserted pictures for the metaphors and prototype. The next member received a PowerPoint presentation and typed the brief explanation of the prototype, creating the slide design and animations. The almost-done presentation was sent to every member, where we evaluated on and changed it till it passed the members' evaluation.
In conclusion, the making of our PowerPoint slides was a wonderful learning experience. We learned to solve problems arose and improvise to accommodate everyone in completing our presentation slides. Some screenshots of our Powerpoint slides. Ho Ming Yong (31)
4:30 AM, Reflections
I think the trip to Singapore Poly was an enriching one. From there we learnt more about alternative energy and also about Solar Energy. From this trip, I now know better how life in polytechnic is like. There are numerous schools around the campus, and they generally spend a few hours in the lecture room. The campus was so big that we took a ten minute walk from the School of Electronic and Electric Engineering all the way to the Solar Farm. Although it was a humid day, I was happy as I finally saw real and big solar panels. I may not have another chance to see it again if I do not grab this rare chance to see it as industries in Singapore do not use a lot of solar energy to generate electricity.

11:13 PM, Our Interesting and Fun (IF) Learning Trip to the Singapore Polytechnic
Wednesday, October 1, 2008
Our trip to the Singapore Polytechnic (SP) was on 29th July 2008. We were there to attend a lecture by Dr. Jiang Fan and to explore their Solar Farm at the rooftop of the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE). The lecture, although long, but we learned many things, like fossil fuels are getting lesser year by year, alternative sources of energy, how appliances convert stored energy to electrical energy and ways to use and store solar energy. Next, we moved to the rooftop to tour the Solar Farm. It consists of many huge solar panels. When some of us touched the solar panels, it felt really hot. The solar panels are able to generate electricity without polluting the environment.
In conclusion, i feel that the trip is a fruitful one. As we learned many things that are useful for our future use. Ho Ming Yong (31)
10:52 PM, Visit To Singapore Polytechnic
We went to visit the solar farm at the Singapore Polytechnic. There was a lecture about solar energy conducted by Dr. Jiang Fang. Althought it was very long, but after the talk I learn more about solar energy and other alternative of fossil fuels. After the long lecture, it is time we finally move on to take a look at the Solar Farm which is on the roof top. It was about 1 o'clock in the afternoon and the temperature there is very hot. I touched the solar panel and I think I could cook an egg on top of it. The solar panels can convert the solar energy, which is free and natural, to electricity for us to use without causing any pollution.

10:43 PM, Visit to Singapore Poly
The visit to Singapore Polytechnic was a very interesting and fun one. I have the opportunity to go to other educational structures and know how their place look like and the life style of the student there. We had lecture on solar energy by the lecturers there. It has let me know how a lecture is like, fun and interesting but it was quite long. Then we move on to one of the roof of a building to see the solar panels there.
The solar panels can generate electricity and do not cause pollutions to the environment. It might be the next most important energy producer in near future. To end this, i had really enjoy this trip and i look forward to the next learning journey in Deyi. The intervals are very chimologicaly advanced like the principals of solar energy transfer and the laws of the energy transfer. This has most certainly taught me how to conserve electricity and how to prevent wastage of energy. However, with the device that we are going to make, i am certain that we would be able to conserve energy if it sells in the market.

Thursday, July 31, 2008
We went to Singapore Polytechnic on 29th July 2008 to know more about solar energy. As a result, we also missed the Deyi Star Finals :(. But still, it's a good thing to gain knowledge!
"The wheels of the bus go round and round, round and round..."
Singapore Polytechnic! We are now heading towards the EEE, also known as School of Electric and Electronic Engineering. As we forgot to take pictures during a lecture in that school by Dr. Jiang Fan, there were naturally, no pictures for the lecture.
So, shortly after the lecture, we went to the Solar Energy Farm. The picture above shows the Entrance sign of the farm.

Rows upon rows of solar panels.

Impressive!

And a photo before leaving the campus!
